Masquerade Ball 2015
The reconceptualization of a classic tradition at Círculo del Liceo
Gala suits, impossible masks and the glamour of the former elites took over Liceo for one night
This February, a successful restoration of Barcelona’s most traditional Masquerade Ball took place on the grounds of Liceu Opera House, the city’s famous and historic opera theater. This shining and glamorous event was organized by Trovel's team; a team that is proud to call Barcelona "home". When Circulo del Liceo, one of the city’s most prestigious institutions, proposed the challenge of organizing the ball in record time, we didn't think twice.
The initiative to restore this traditional ball, that traces its origins back to the mid-19th century, came from the board of Circulo del Liceo and their president, Ignacio García-Nieto, as well as from the youngest segment of its members. The idea was to make the Masquerade a way to attract younger generations and get them to sign up as members of Circulo del Liceo.
The classic magnificence of the place, the elegance of the nearly 500 guests, among them some of the most distinguished Catalan families along with others that came all the way from the United Kingdom and Russia for the occasion, add to this parade of surprising masks, live music and rhythm brought by the DJs. All of these elements combined created the perfect mood for a magic night.
This was a one-of-a-kind celebration, similarly to the masquerade balls that take place during Venice’s legendary carnivals. However, this one had a touch of French-style “savoir faire” and of Anglo-Saxon casualness.
The Masquerade Ball would not have been possible without the dedicated support of a number of partners and sponsors: Cornex Capital, Espai Tonyina, Pernod Ricard y Munnk, Porsche, 21 de Marzo, El Palauet, Damm, Digital Luxe, BlingBling, Oleum Flumen, Teresa’s Juicery, La Xocolateria by Oriol Balaguer y La Fermata. We take this opportunity to thank them for placing their trust in this amazing project!
