Refreshing drops of water, falling from the shower tap above your head, caress your skin as you look out into your very own private rainforest. Out of the dense multi-toned green vegetation a chestnut mandibled toucan peeks through, almost as if it were greeting your arrival to Villa Mayana.

You go back inside this Indonesian-inspired villa where you notice that bamboo predominates as the main construction material. This sustainably run haven counts on its own water purifying system and solar panels. A casual atmosphere inspired by the tropical Costa Rican environment and comfortable furniture surrounds you as you begin to dress for today’s activities.

Coming down the stairs of the hut, you already hear the kids’ excitement for the snorkeling and ziplining that awaits today. You join your family and friends for breakfast, that has just been set on the exterior porch table, with incredible intense blue views of the vast Pacific Ocean.

On your way to meet your snorkeling guide, you notice that Hermosa Beach and  the Nauyaca Waterfall are really close by. Perfect! Now you know where to go for some sunbathing and hiking later on this week.

After some adventure in a tropical setting, once back at Villa Mayana, you go on a relaxing walk with the children to pick some limes, grapefruit and starfruit on the private reserve. The villa’s chef prepares delicious cold smoothies with the fruit you’ve collected to top off today’s traditional dinner. Surrounded by the sounds of nature and the rolling surf in the background, you sit down for a relaxing finale meal with your loved ones.

270º views

Villa Mayana offers exclusive 270º views to the Pacific Ocean and to the biodiversity that the Costarrican tropical rainforest offers. The villa, that is distributed into two floors, has a great terrace from which you can enjoy multi-toned sunsets and the intense twinkling of the night stars. The villa is situated in a privileged beautiful natural location among mountains and near beaches.

With a private reserve just for you

This villa counts on a natural 75 acre reserve just for you. You’ll find an ecosystem full of wildlife and Costa Rican vegetation. Three-toed sloths, iguanas and white-faced capuchin monkeys are only some of the inhabitants that you will find on this reserve.

Tropical-hut inspirated villa

Villa Mayan’s structure is inspired in traditional Indonesian constructing techniques. The inverted-V-shapped nine-meter-tall hay ceiling perfectly blends in with the surrounding nature. Materials such as stone, refurbished wood, bamboo and recycled palm leaves have been used to integrate the villa into its surroundings. The spacious rooms offer balconies with exterior showers from which the views can be contemplated.

Villa Mayana is located in the Dominical area of Punta Arenas (Costa Rica), just 5 minutes from the Marine National Park Ballena and 17 minutes from the capital, San José. A 75 acre private reserve surrounds the villa, featuring natural rainforest areas with beautiful gardens. Its unbeatable location, just a few minute walk from Playa Hermosa and a short car ride from the center, will allow you to enjoy the best restaurants, shops and other famous beaches.
